Description
The Fisherman and the Goldfish statue is a favourite tourist destination in Varna. It’s 2.1 meters high and is located downtown, just 10 minutes away from the beach. The statue was created by the local sculptor Venelin Bozhidarov.
The statue is thought to have been inspired by the fairy tale of Alexander Pushkin - ''Tale of the Fisherman and the Goldfish''. It is about a fisherman who manages to catch a "Golden Fish" which promises to fulfil any wish of his in exchange for its freedom. The fairytale teaches us all a lesson about how to be modest and value what we have. The moral of the story is that you’d lose everything if you’re greedy!
