Description

The Revival Museum in Varna has undergone many transformations making it a place where you can feel the spirit of one of the most interesting times in Bulgarian history - the Revival era.

The Revival Museum was created in 1960, and its first curator was one of the most prominent researchers of the Revival period. During its initial years, the museum lived in the house of the First Bulgarian school in Varna - one of the exhibitions on the second floor was even a restored room from the school itself.

With the help of engravings, photos, weapons, documents, books and other materials, the Revival period in Varna and the region came to life in a unique way. A significant part of the museum collection was made of church utensils and equipment. Most of the items were collected by the old museum workers - the Škorpil brothers, Archimandrite Inokentiyi and others, and were kept at the Archaeological museum before the creation of the Revival museum.

The museum lived at its first location until 2002 when it was moved to a different building where temporary exhibitions were held. Since June 2006, the museum is at its current location in a house beautifully restored in the Revival traditions, and presents a new exposition by а leading researcher in the field.
